The app also comes with various background sounds to help you concentrate and get in the zone. The picture above shows my favorite background but there are many more to choose from. I love that we can change the page background. You will see the same theme repeating here. The choices are limited, but I have a feeling that the developers did this to minimize the choices. Firstly, there are a few fonts types which you can choose from. With that out of the way, let’s take a look at some of the extra features that Ommwriter has to offer us.

A quick discloser here, I have been testing this app on my MacBook Pro so I don’t know how it behaves on Windows, but I assume everything I say here will apply for the Windows version too. This means that when you launch the app, you know you are doing it because you want to right. The best part is that when you launch the app, it automatically goes to full-screen and doesn’t even have a window mode. Now what you ask? Well, now you start typing. Well, coming back to Ommwriter, it gives you that blank page along with that blinking cursor. Now, both the quotes have very different meanings, but I hope I am making my point clear. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” There’s a similar one from Ernest Hemingway which goes like this, “ There is nothing to writing. That’s a really powerful quote if you ask me. I really love this quote from Gene Fowler which sums this up perfectly, “ Writing is easy: All you do is sit staring at a blank sheet of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead.”
Yes, that’s the dreaded blank page which we all stare at some point in time in our lives. Look at the picture below to understand what I am saying. But, when I really started using it, I realised that I don’t need those features, they are just a way to distract my mind away from something which is the only thing that matters Writing. It confused the hell out me, after all, there was no way to create a document, no formatting option, nothing at all. When you launch the app, the only thing you see is a blank sheet of coloured paper with a blinking cursor at the top. That was because when I was trying this one out, I could only see the missing features and not see far enough to realise that Ommwriter was missing those features for a reason.
When I first found this software, I was on the fence for so many days before I finally decided to buy it.

This is the best writing software I have ever landed my hands on. I don’t know how and when I discovered this software but I am happy that I did. What we need is something which can kill all the distractions and provide us with a place to write and for me, Ommwriter provides me that distraction-free place. While we can go back the old route and use a pen and paper, most of us will not be able to finish even a page before our hands start betraying us. Even the machine a writer uses to get the writing done can act as a portal to the world of distractions. Today, the biggest hurdle which a writer has to face are the multitudes of things around him/her which are constantly trying to distract him. While no piece of software can help you churn out a story or a novel if you don’t have it in you, there are services which can help you create an environment where your writing can flow naturally.
